Description

Di Pacci SG · Single-Boiler PID E61 Espresso Machine

ECM Classika PID Coffee Machine

The ECM Classika PID is a compact single-boiler E61 machine for people who mostly drink espresso and want precise temperature control.

The ECM Classika PID has an approximately 0.75 litre stainless steel boiler under PID control, with a display that shows boiler temperature and a shot timer. The commercial-style E61 group takes a 58 mm portafilter, and a vibration pump with an adjustable expansion valve feeds it from an approximately 2.8 litre water tank.

As a single-boiler machine, it brews and steams one after the other rather than at the same time, which suits espresso drinkers and the occasional milk coffee. In exchange you get a narrow 250 mm footprint, ECM's polished stainless steel build and the option to add a flow-control device to the group (choose "Add Flow Control" above). It runs from a standard Singapore power socket.

Key Features of the ECM Classika PID

PID temperature control

Set brew temperature precisely and see it on the display, so shots repeat day to day.

Built-in shot timer

The display times every extraction, which makes dialling in a new coffee quicker.

E61 group head

Continuous hot-water circulation keeps the group stable and gives a gentle pre-infusion.

250 mm wide

A narrow body that fits where wider dual-boiler machines won't.

Optional flow control

Add a flow-control device to the group to vary flow through the shot.

ECM build quality

Polished stainless steel body and an adjustable expansion valve for brew pressure.

Living With a Single-Boiler PID Machine

A single boiler does both jobs: it brews at espresso temperature, then heats up further to make steam. PID control makes the brewing side precise.

  • Pull your shot at the temperature set on the PID, timing it on the display.
  • Switch to steam and wait for the boiler to reach steam temperature.
  • Steam your milk, then let the boiler come back down before the next shot.

If you drink mostly espresso, or one or two milk drinks at a time, you get precise temperature control in a smaller, simpler machine.

Classika PID vs Classika PID with Flow Control

Same machine, same boiler and PID. The flow-control option adds a device to the E61 group.

Feature Standard With flow control
Boiler / PID Approx. 0.75 L, PID Approx. 0.75 L, PID
Flow during the shot Fixed by the pump Adjustable by hand
Pre-infusion E61 natural pre-infusion Longer, gentler pre-infusion possible
Best for Classic espresso Light roasts and experimenting

Di Pacci recommendation: Choose the standard Classika PID if you want a straightforward espresso machine. Add flow control if you like light roasts and want to experiment. Don't buy either if you make several milk drinks back to back; a heat-exchanger such as the ECM Mechanika VI Slim or a dual boiler such as the Lelit Bianca V3 will suit you better.

Best Grinders for the ECM Classika PID
