Description

Di Pacci — 180 mm Tungsten Carbide Industrial Coffee Grinder

Mahlkonig DK27 LVH Industrial Grinder

The Mahlkonig DK27 LVH is a floor-standing roastery grinder with 180 mm tungsten carbide burrs, built to grind around a quarter of a tonne of coffee every hour.

The Mahlkonig DK27 LVH is the tungsten carbide version of Mahlkönig's DK27 industrial grinder. Its 180 mm burrs are driven by a 5.5 kW three-phase motor and grind roughly 260 kg per hour fine and 280 kg per hour medium, feeding a 200 litre ground-coffee container from a hopper that holds about 30 kg of beans.

The LVH suffix matters. Mahlkönig rates the carbide burrs for approximately 35 to 40 tonnes before replacement, against roughly 15 to 20 tonnes for the cast-steel DK27 LV, so it suits roasters and packers running the grinder for hours every day. This is a special-order machine: call us to confirm availability, lead time and the three-phase supply at your site before you order.

Key Features of the Mahlkonig DK27 LVH

⚙️ 180 mm tungsten carbide burrs

Carbide holds its edge far longer than steel, so grind size stays consistent across tonnes of coffee between burr changes.

🏭 Up to 280 kg per hour

Medium grinds run at about 280 kg per hour, enough to keep a packing line supplied without waiting on the grinder.

⚡ Three-phase motor built for continuous use

Surface cooling, high starting torque and overload protection let the motor run for long shifts.

🌬️ Extra motor fans

Two additional fans plus motor and casing ventilation keep heat away from the coffee during long runs.

🧲 Hopper magnet

A magnet in the bean hopper catches stray metal before it reaches the burrs.

🔩 Low-maintenance bearings

Permanently greased bearings mean no routine lubrication schedule.

Why Carbide Burrs Suit Roastery Volumes

At industrial volumes the cost of a grinder is not the machine; it's the downtime and drift that come with worn burrs. As steel burrs dull, particle size spreads and output drops, so operators have to keep adjusting.

  • Tungsten carbide is much harder than hardened steel, so the cutting edge wears far more slowly.
  • Mahlkönig rates the DK27 LVH burrs for roughly 35 to 40 tonnes, more than double the cast-steel DK27 LV.
  • Fewer burr changes means fewer stoppages and a grind that stays closer to spec from batch to batch.

For a roaster grinding several tonnes a month, the carbide set can be the difference between changing burrs a few times a year and planning around it constantly.

DK27 LVH vs DK15 LH

The DK27 and DK15 share the same industrial design; the choice comes down to how much you grind each hour.

Feature DK27 LVH DK15 LH
Burr diameter 180 mm 130 mm
Burr material Tungsten carbide Tungsten carbide
Output, medium Approx. 280 kg/h Approx. 130 kg/h
Motor 5.5 kW three-phase 2.2 kW three-phase
Net weight 158 kg 132 kg

Di Pacci recommendation: Choose the DK27 LVH when you're grinding for packing or wholesale at a scale where a 130 mm grinder would bottleneck the line. Don't bother if you grind under 100 kg a day; the Mahlkonig DK15L or a shop grinder like the Ditting KFA1203 will do the job for far less.

Who This Grinder Is For

✓ Ideal if you:
  • Roast and pack coffee for wholesale or retail
  • Grind hundreds of kilograms per day
  • Run the grinder for long shifts
  • Want burrs that last tens of tonnes
  • Have three-phase power and floor space for a 158 kg machine
✗ Consider alternatives if you:
  • Grind for a café or retail counter; see our deli and shop grinders
  • Grind under 100 kg a day; the Mahlkonig DK15L is smaller
  • Only have single-phase power
  • Need it delivered next week without confirming lead time

Mahlkonig DK27 LVH — Frequently Asked Questions

What does LVH mean on the Mahlkonig DK27?

LVH is the DK27 version fitted with tungsten carbide burrs for coffee. The LV uses cast steel and the LVS special steel; the carbide LVH has the longest rated burr life of the three.
