Di Pacci — 130 mm Tungsten Carbide Industrial Coffee Grinder

Mahlkonig DK15 LH Industrial Coffee Grinder

The Mahlkonig DK15 LH is a floor-standing industrial grinder with tungsten carbide burrs, made for roasteries that grind well over a hundred kilos an hour and want burrs that last.

The Mahlkonig DK15 LH uses 130 mm tungsten carbide burrs driven by a 2.2 kW three-phase motor, and Mahlkönig rates it at roughly 120 kg per hour fine and 130 kg per hour medium. A bean hopper of about 30 kg feeds it from above and ground coffee drops into a mobile 200 litre container below.

The "H" in LH is the point of difference: tungsten carbide burrs are harder than the cast steel or special steel versions of the DK15, and Mahlkönig quotes a grind life of about 25 to 30 tonnes for them, roughly double the steel sets. For a packing line that grinds every day, that means fewer burr changes and a more consistent grind between them. It is a special-order machine, so call us to confirm lead time and site power.

Key Features of the Mahlkonig DK15 LH

⚙️ Tungsten carbide burrs

130 mm carbide discs hold their edge far longer than steel, so grind quality stays steady between changes.

🏭 120–130 kg an hour

Enough throughput to grind a full roast batch for packing in a short run.

🔌 Continuous-duty motor

Surface-cooled three-phase motor with high starting torque and overload protection.

🧲 Metal protection

Magnets in the hopper stop stray metal from reaching the burrs.

🌬️ Low-dust discharge

A tight discharge chute into a mobile container keeps fine dust off the floor.

🎚️ Repeatable setting

The adjustment wheel gives fine, repeatable control from one batch to the next.

Why Tungsten Carbide Burrs Matter

Industrial burrs wear gradually. As the edges round off, the grind gets less even and output drops, often before anyone notices in the cup.

  • Tungsten carbide is much harder than hardened steel, so the cutting edges wear more slowly.
  • Mahlkönig quotes about 25 to 30 tonnes of grind life for the LH set, against roughly 10 to 20 tonnes for the steel versions.
  • Longer intervals between burr changes mean less downtime and less drift in particle size over time.

For a roaster grinding every day, carbide burrs keep packed coffee consistent for longer and cut maintenance stops.

DK15 LH vs DK27 LVT

Two Mahlkönig industrial grinders for different jobs.

Feature DK15 LH DK27 LVT
Burr diameter 130 mm 180 mm
Burr material Tungsten carbide Cast steel, Turkish cut
Output ~120–130 kg/h (fine–medium) ~170 kg/h (Turkish)
Motor 2.2 kW three-phase 5.5 kW three-phase
Best for Espresso to filter, long burr life Turkish grind at volume

Di Pacci recommendation: The DK15 LH suits roasters grinding espresso through to filter who want the longest burr life. Don't bother if your product is Turkish grind — the Mahlkonig DK27 LVT is built for that — or if you only grind a few kilos a day, where a deli grinder makes more sense.
