Di Pacci — 130 mm Cast Steel Industrial Coffee Grinder

Mahlkonig DK15L Industrial Coffee Grinder

The Mahlkonig DK15L is a floor-standing industrial grinder with 130 mm cast steel burrs for roasters who need more than a shop grinder but less than a full packing-line machine.

The Mahlkonig DK15L is the cast-steel version of Mahlkönig's DK15 industrial grinder. A 2.2 kW three-phase motor turns 130 mm fully hardened cast steel burrs at 1,440 rpm, grinding approximately 105 kg per hour fine and 115 kg per hour medium from a hopper that holds about 30 kg of beans into a 200 litre container.

It's the smaller sibling of the DK27, built on the same heavy frame with surface-cooled motor, overload protection and permanently greased bearings, so it runs for long shifts with little maintenance. Mahlkönig rates the cast steel burrs for roughly 15 to 20 tonnes at a median setting. This is a special-order machine: call us to confirm availability and lead time before you order.

Key Features of the Mahlkonig DK15L

⚙️ 130 mm hardened cast steel burrs

Large, wear-resistant burrs cut beans cleanly at volume and are rated for around 15 to 20 tonnes.

🏭 Over 100 kg per hour

Roughly 105 kg per hour fine and 115 kg per hour medium keeps a small roastery's bagging moving.

⚡ Built for continuous use

The three-phase motor has surface cooling, high starting torque and overload protection.

🧲 Hopper magnet

Catches stray metal in the beans before it can damage the burrs.

🎯 Repeatable grind adjustment

The adjustment wheel gives fine, repeatable control over grind size between batches.

🔩 Low-maintenance bearings

Permanently greased bearings mean no routine lubrication schedule.

Choosing Burr Material on the DK15

Mahlkönig builds the DK15 with three burr options for coffee, and the right one depends on how many tonnes you grind a year rather than on cup quality alone.

  • The DK15L uses fully hardened cast steel, rated for about 15 to 20 tonnes at a median setting.
  • The DK15 LS uses special steel for slightly higher output, at around 120 to 130 kg per hour.
  • The DK15 LH uses tungsten carbide, rated for about 25 to 30 tonnes, for roasters grinding all day.

For most small roasteries the cast steel DK15L is the sensible balance of output, burr life and cost; step up to carbide only if burr changes start costing you production time.

DK15L vs DK27 LV

If you're sizing an industrial grinder, these two share a frame design but not a workload.

Feature DK15L DK27 LV
Burr diameter 130 mm 180 mm
Burr material Cast steel Cast steel
Output, medium Approx. 115 kg/h Approx. 250 kg/h

Net weight 132 kg 155 kg

Di Pacci recommendation: The DK15L suits roasters grinding up to a few hundred kilograms a day. Don't bother if you already need more than about 115 kg per hour; go straight to the Mahlkonig DK27 LVH. If you grind bags to order at a counter, a shop grinder like the Ditting KFA1203 is far more practical.
