The La Marzocco GS1 Was Made Between 1970-1981
Throwback to when @lamarzocco began production of the new GS Series, which incorporates two important industry innovations: the use of independent boilers which isolated coffee brewing from steam and hot water production along with saturated group heads. Both innovations vastly improve the thermo-stability of the machines. The letters “GS” stand for “gruppo saturo” or “saturated brewing groups”.
While one boiler is used to generate hot water and steam (to make tea and froth milk), the other is dedicated to brewing espresso coffee. All La Marzocco equipment, from the introduction of the GS model, are equipped with the “dual” boiler and saturated brew group technology.
Estimated production: 2,200-2,400 units (1,2,3 and 4 groups).
